We have worked with hundreds of schools across the country to apply statistics to school challenges around culture and climate.

2013-2014: Main Street Academix received a contract from Benchmark Education, Inc. to design and implement a year-long study of the effects of Benchmark's English and Spanish Literacy Program on the English and Spanish academic achievement of students who were participating in a Two-Way Spanish English Immersion Program in a Fairfax, VA public school.

 

2012-2013: Main Street Academix received a contract from Benchmark Education, Inc. to design and implement a year-long study of the effects of the Benchmark Literacy Program on student academic achievement in a Fairfax, VA public school.

 

2011-2012: Main Street Academix received a contract to design and implement a year-long, six-school, experimental study for Benchmark Education, Inc. in the Fort Smith, AR and Fairfax, VA Public Schools.

 

2010-2012: Main Street Academix was awarded a contract to work with the TN Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools and its new Center for School Climate to provide technical assistance to a statewide cohort of school districts which comprise 20% of all students in Tennessee.

 

2008-2009: Main Street Academix received a grant to support our research on the effects of school climate on student academic achievement from the Tennessee Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools and the Sullivan County Public Schools.

 

2008-2009: Main Street Academix received a contract from Benchmark Education, Inc. to design and implement a six school experimental study of the effects of Benchmark’s literacy training and materials on teachers’ ability to differentiate instruction and on student reading ability. The one-year research study was done in collaboration with the University of Massachusetts and the East Hartford Public Schools.

 

2005-2008: Main Street Academix in collaboration with Sterner-Moscow Partnership received a four year evaluation grant from the 21st Century School Project, to evaluate the effectiveness of The Community Association of Progressive Dominicans’s (ACDP’s) 21st Century Community Learning Centers Program. These programs are located in three inner city elementary and middle schools and three high schools in Harlem, Upper Manhattan, and Washington Heights, NY.

 

2005-2006: Main Street Academix received a contract from Benchmark Education, Inc. to design and implement a six school experimental study of the effects of Benchmark’s literacy training and materials on student reading comprehension, fluency, and phonemic awareness. The one-year research study was done in collaboration with the University of Massachusetts and the Tyler Public Schools (Texas).

 

2005: Main Street Academix, in collaboration with Plymouth State University, received a grant to develop and implement a Summer Institute for NH teachers, administrators and student leaders called "Building The Respectful School: How to Improve School Climate to Help Our Most Challenging Students Succeed". The Institute was attended by over 120 students, administrators and NH teachers.

 

2004-2005 Main Street Academix received funding to support the evaluation of the effects of two hands-on mathematics programs (MathLine and Master Ruler) on mathematics instruction and student learning.

 

2003-2007 Main Street Academix received funding from The Center for the Prevention of Hate Violence and the Sullivan County Public Schools to conduct a longitudinal, pre and post assessment of school climate and safety in thirty-six schools in Tennessee.

 

2002-2003 Main Street Academix, and SAU 24 received a New Hampshire Safe and Drug Free Schools Grant to support a pilot project from NH Dept of Education/ US Department of Education to collect school climate data in third through twelfth grades in NH schools and to develop and implement student, faculty, and administrative programs based upon results to address problems of bullying, bias-based harassment, and violence.
